Since one week I haven't really write any news, many thinks happend here, as you can imagine.
I had the great chance to see several dance masters on stage during the festival. CV Chandrashekar for Christmas gave a full program including a varnam where he could show both his technique and expression habilities, a javalli I enjoyed very much (regretting he did not perform more abinaya pieces) and a shorted tillana. He gave clear explanations for each item, told us he hoped we were not here to watch a old man still able to jump but an artist who wants to give spiritualiy from his art. He also warmly thank and speak about his musicians (special mention to her daughter Manjari who played nattuvangam). After the program he was not even tired, kindly receiving compliments from all people coming to him, saying he danced for youngest generation, complimenting Lavanya for her previous program.
I had also the great chance to attend a Swapna Sundari performance. She is an amazing dancer, specially her abinaya is fabulous, I laughed so much until one cries while she performed story about Meenakshi who's friend is begging her not to be interested in Shiva's love who is a poor man without a roof on his head, no clothes on his body but snakes and skin of animal, begging his food, with 3 eyes and a bull for frame. You can read more about her on her complete website: http://www.swapnasundari.com/
I also had chance to attend Bragha Bessel full abinya performance in Spaces (1 Besant Nagar beach road, the place of late Chandraleka where Murielle used to attend her kalaripayat courses formerly), unfortunately I was not in my best at this time as it was day I learnt my grand father death.
